Is it true that other than network locking, the only difference between the A1586 and the A1549 is 4 bands? (listed below) 38 (TD 2600) 39 (TD 1900) 40 (TD 2300) 41 (TD 2500) Will missing these bands have an impact in the UK? Can/will this be fixed in future with an official update/unlock? Is it true that network locking in the US will have no affect in the UK? Many Thanks Chris.

(China Telecom is different, as it’s a CDMA provider, and would need the CDMA phone directly provisioned from Apple.) As for US local carriers, I assume it would work. However, if you actually lived in the USA and want to use a US local carrier, just go buy the phone and try it!

While Verizon 5ses will work on Verizon + GSM carriers, a regular unlocked phone will only work on GSM carriers. Like someone else said, go into the About panel and if there is mention of an MEID number, it is a Verizon model. If there isn't, its a standard Unlocked/GSM model. Very confusing, not like the iPhone 5 where the Verizon model had its own model number (of course that model will only work with Verizon LTE, and HSPA+/HSPA/EDGE elsewhere). Click to expand.1.
